Vinson Synan is a well-known scholar and historian in the Pentecostal movement. He has authored several books, including "The Holiness-Pentecostal Tradition," "The Century of the Holy Spirit," and "Pentecostalism: A Very Short Introduction."
Synan was born in 1930 in Mobile, Alabama, and was raised in the United Pentecostal Church. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Georgia and went on to become a professor at various universities, including the Regent University School of Divinity and the Oral Roberts University School of Theology and Missions.
In addition to his work as a scholar and historian, Synan has also been active in Pentecostal denominational leadership. He served as the general secretary of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and is a founding member of the Society for Pentecostal Studies.
